Friends of Paediatric Intensive Care Unit

Friends of PICU is a registered charity which supports children and their families on the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at the University Hospital Southampton, the regional lead centre for critically ill children from newborn to 18 years.

Children are admitted from 27 referring hospitals across the South of England & Channel Islands, and from children’s wards at Southampton Hospital.  Over 1,000 children are admitted each year for specialist care by the skilled and dedicated team.

Through fundraising and donations received, they are able to have a big impact across the whole of the PICU and the excellent level of care which is provided to the children and their families.

Each year, Friends of PICU runs their main charity fundraising event in Chandler’s Ford each year, supported by Outreach Radio since 2023 through pre-event on-air promotion and live outside broadcast interviews and awareness raising programming on the day of the event.
