Outreach Radio, Your Truly Local Radio Station, is a volunteer-led radio station broadcasting a diverse mix of music, entertainment, local information and specialist programming to listeners across Hampshire and the surrounding areas. Many of our presenters come from a variety of skilled backgrounds, united by a passion for radio, creating great local content, and originating from within our coverage area.

Outreach Radio provides a welcoming environment where volunteers can develop their skills, share their interests and connect with audiences through engaging programmes, and their local connection.

Outreach Radio is seeking a volunteer radio presenter with a warm, engaging on-air personality and strong presentation skills to host our afternoon shows.

Our afternoon programme features music spanning from the 1980s through to the present day, with a focus on upbeat, popular contemporary tracks. It’s designed to be an enjoyable companion for listeners during their commute, whether they’re driving to or from work, doing the school run, or going about their day-to-day activities.

Duties include:

• Perform live, or near-live radio programmes that are entertaining and informative
• Prepare and conduct research on topics of interest, such as local gigs for broadcast
• Willingness to conduct pre-recorded interviews, such as those with bands or musicians
• Occasionally provide voice tracking for other radio programmes
• Provide occasional voice-tracking cover for other radio shows
• Strong familiarity with popular music from the 1980s until the present day
• Strong familiarity with the news and events occurring in our coverage area
• Cross-promotion of special events and other station programmes
• Attend station events and remote broadcasts in person where applicable & available
• Adhere to the Ofcom Broadcast Code to safeguard the station’s Ofcom licence
• Ensure that competitions and promotions are executed properly
• Flexibility to support the wider station where required

Requirements:

• Team player with good synergy with co-workers
• Excellent communicator with strong creative skills
• Familiarity with live and voice tracking (or willingness to learn)
• Knowledge of the music genres and audiences
• Knowledge of Ofcom Broadcast Code (training provided)
• Connections and familiarity with the Hampshire area
• We’re looking for someone entertaining and informative, NOT your political views.
• Comply to Outreach Radio rules and regulations
